A Reprieve for CPSIA
Back in December I posted about the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act which was set to go into effect in February, possibly causing hundreds of small business owners and craftsmen across the States to go out of business. Earlier in January, the Consumer Products Safety Commission decided that thrift and consignment sales will not be required to certify their products, which is a blessing for those of us who shop at consignment sales! Yesterday it was announced that the CPSIA has been delayed for one year, until February 2010. This is wonderful news, and will hopefully give lawmakers time to review the law and make amendments for small business owners and those who make any goods for children under the age of 12. You can read more about it here.
