Creativity for a good cause

If you read my post below, you know I am participating in the 2010 Walk for Life to support Pregnancy Support Services of Wake Forest. I am asking everyone I know (and even those blog readers I don't know:-) to consider donating money to my walk. My fundraising goal is $2,000--that is a LOT of money, but I believe that God will bless this ministry and help me meet my goal.

Another way that you can contribute is by purchasing something from LFinnDesigns from now until April 23, the day before the walk. All proceeds from anything I sell will go to the Walk for Life. Over the next several days, I will be posting pictures of items I have available or that you can order. So be thinking about that nursing cover, diaper clutch, burp cloth, or baby blanket that you want! I also have a few new things to show you soon, so please come back to check it out. Buy something in April to support a great cause!

If you would like to donate to my walk, please go to http://www.blogger.com/www.psspartners.com, select "Donate Now" and enter my name in the comments/notes section. And if you cannot donate, please pray for the Lord to bless this wonderful ministry and the 2010 Walk for Life!

2010 Walk for Life

At the end of April, I will be participating in the 2010 Walk for Life to support Pregnancy Support Services of Wake Forest. This wonderful ministry serves women and men dealing with unplanned pregnancies, seeking to help them with pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, crisis counseling, and life skills classes. It is very easy to donate online at http://www.blogger.com/www.psspartners.com by clicking on the Donate Now button. Please put my name, Leah Finn, in the comments section so my fundraising account can be credited. If you would prefer not to donate online, you may give/mail me a check made payable to PSSWF. Thank you for supporting this great cause! More information about this ministry can be found here.

Homemade Swiffer pads

I am the proud owner of a Swiffer WetJet. I just don't like paying so much money for the refill pads and the refill juice. As I was folding up some old cloth diapers (that I use for cleaning rags), I realized they are the same size as the Swiffer. Feeling inspired, I cut up a couple of the cloths, added some velcro and created re-usable Swiffer pads.

Adorable baby blanket

I bought this adorable flannel a couple of months ago when it was on sale at JoAnns. I didn't have anything in mind for it, but I love it! I made a cute little baby blanket that could be used for swaddling or cuddling. I haven't designated a recipient yet, so if anyone is interested in it, let me know:-)

Diaper clutch in the best fabric ever (Go Dawgs!)

The latest nursing cover

This was an order for a friend who has given my nursing covers to several friends (thanks, KA!). I added a small pocket in the upper corner for stashing those necessary items (like runaway nursing pads! At least, mine always seemed to disappear...)

Fun websites, giveaways, and such

Okay, it has been rainy today and I have spent/wasted some time looking at a variety of blogs.

So You Think You're Crafty is fun--each week the competitors enter their crafts and then the viewing public gets to vote on their favorites. This is the second 'season', and the crafts have been amazing.

Similar concept, different theme: So You Think You Can Decorate has LOADS of wonderful, thrifty ideas for decorating your home. I spent a long time looking at one of the competitors' websites and now I want to go thrifting (shopping at thrift store! Fun!)--Check out All Things Thrifty

And a random giveaway that I came across: Custom Stamp Giveaway

Enjoy!

Fabrics I have on hand

My local quilting store had a 'end of the bolt sale' today and I picked up a few cute fabrics (the first picture). You might recognize the pink fabric as one I have used before, and I love the green Amy Butler fabric in the middle. The pictures below it are just photos of what I currently have on hand. It helps me keep up with what I have and don't have...and I have a lot more fabric that I think I do:-) All of these fabrics would work well as a nursing cover or a larger project--these photos don't begin to show my smaller (1/2 yard or less) fabrics! :-)

"

*I don't have the green fabric on the left any more...oops!

Contents of the placemat purse

Earlier I showed you the Placemat Purses I made for a ladies event. I wanted you to see all of the wonderful goodies we put in the bags as well:

This is my bag (Yay! I got to keep one:-) with a scarf from Turkey, a decorated clipboard, Lindt chocolate truffles, printed tissues and handsanitizer, a Bible, and notecards with a pen. Not shown are the Altoids (which I quickly moved to my other bag) and the monogrammed earrings. It was a WONDERFUL gift bag!
