Bib

A wonderful lady in my church makes bibs for almost every new baby. The bib is made of quilted fabric (super absorbent and sturdy), and is designed to fit over the shoulders to cover more area. With drooly, messy babies, the more area covered, the better! :-) This bib pictured is my attempt to make a bib like this dear lady makes. Mine is pretty plain and simple--my friend finds the most colorful, fun quilted fabric--but it works!

Yummy taco cupcakes

It has been a while since I posted a recipe, so I thought I would share this one. I made it for friends yesterday, and it is super easy and delicious! This meal came from my friend, Mrs. Sprinkles, who linked to the original recipe at Rocks in My Dryer, but suggested the adaptations.

Taco Cupcackes (you can call them something fancier if you would like:-)

1 lb. ground beef
taco seasoning packet
1-2 cups shredded cheese
1 package flaky biscuits (I use Pillsbury Grands flaky layers, 8 count)

*Brown the ground beef, drain and add the taco seasoning as directed on the seasoning packet.
*Separate the flaky layers biscuits into eight biscuits, then peel the biscuits in half, making 16 thin biscuits.
*Roll the biscuits out some (use a rolling pin, or pat them thin with your fingers) till they are approx. 8" across
*Put biscuits into cupcake/muffin tin, creating a biscuit shell.
*Fill biscuit shell with spoonful of seasoned taco meat, and top with shredded cheese.
*Bake at 350 degrees for 8-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are lightly browned.
Enjoy the yumminess!

The latest from the sewing machine

Wonderland by MoMo baby playmat

I love the Wonderland by MoMo line of fabric, and when I saw this tutorial, I couldn't wait to try my first 'quilt-like' project and make a baby play mat. It turned out really cute, thanks to great fabric, but I have a lot to learn about quilting (I think I needed to pin more...)! This was a gift for a dear friend, and she loved it, which is the most important thing. Sorry I don't have better pictures--maybe after the little baby girl arrives, I'll steal a cute photo of the play mat with a baby on it!

Great deal on diapers

Last night I snagged a great deal on Pampers diapers at CVS. I read at The Thrifty Mama that Pampers were on sale, and with each pack you can earn $5 in ECBs.**

I purchased:
3 packs of Pampers at $8.99/each
2 bottles of Dawn dish detergent at $1.00/each
2 "fillers" (tic-tacs, candy) to bring my total up to $30
My total before coupons, etc. was approximately $32.00

I used:
$5/$30 CVS coupon
$7 in ECBs
2 $1 Pampers coupons
1 $1.50 Pampers coupon
2 $0.25 Dawn coupons

Total after coupons: $16.03.
I earned $16 ECB, making the total cost for 3 packs of diapers and 2 bottles of dish detergent only $0.03!!!!!!!

**Some of the comments I read noted that this information was online and not in the sales flyer, so I printed out the online ad to take with me. The ECBS for the diapers did not print out, so my cashier called her manager, who gave me the 15 ECBs after looking at my printout from the online ad.

Another diaper clutch

I made this diaper clutch last week for a friend who is expecting her first, a little boy, later this month. I love this Joel Dewberry fabric (but of course, it is green, which is my favorite)!

Online meal calendar

I recently discovered a wonderful online meal calendar that can be used to schedule meals for new parents, those who have lost loved ones, people recovering from surgery, etc. I don't know why I had not thought to look for these before, but once I started looking, I found several different online calendars.

Meal Baby

Care Calendar

Food Stork *this is a Facebook Application*

I LOVE the way these work--it enables those who want to provide meals to sign up for a meal and state what they are bringing. Others can then see who is bringing what so the recipients don't get five lasagnas in one week. It keeps the meal coordinator from getting bogged down with emails. It allows the meal recipients to state their food preferences or allergies. All in all, it is just really cool! Have any of you used these websites? I would love to read a review of them, and to know if there are more I should check out.

Just when I say...

I am not going to buy any more fabric until I use what I have, I learn that an online shop that I really like, Bee Square Fabrics is going out of business. You can read about it here. It is so sad that she is closing her doors, but to complicate my problem, she is selling her fabric at 50 percent off (there is a coupon code in the blog post above). Oh, can I show restraint and only buy a little?? Please help her clean out her store by shopping at Bee Square Fabrics before July 15!

What a great giveaway. I'm a bit surprised (and more than a bit jealous) about how many people have ridden elephants. I, sadly, have not. My interesting thing is that I just ran a 5k race (3 miles) on Saturday. :)

These fabrics are lovely! I guess one random strange thing about me is that when I was a little girl I walked into the refrigerator and burned my head on the lightbulb in there *L*

Thanks to everyone who played along! I LOVED reading everyone's comments, and learned some very unusual facts about people:-) Who knew elephant riding was so common? To my winners, I will be sending you an email shortly. I hope everyone enjoyed the Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway day, and that they have been inspired by everyone's creativity!
